Tartaruga-oliva (Lepidochelys olivacea)

As tartaruga marinhas desovam no litoral brasileiro de setembro a março. As mães voltam às praias onde nasceram para cavar um buraco e colocar seus ovos. Assim que nascem, os filhotes começam sua jornada em direção ao oceano, mas, infelizmente, só uma pequena parcela conseguirá chegar à vida adulta. No caso da tartaruga-oliva, a coleta de ovos, a caça ilegal, a pesca acidental e a degradação e transformação das praias são as principais ameaças.

Olive turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea)
