Onça-pintada (Panthera onca)
A onça-pintada é o maior felino das Américas. Possui um papel importante no ecossistema: seleciona indivíduos inexperientes, machucados, doentes ou mais velhos o que acaba resultando em benefício para a própria população de presas. Infelizmente, fazendeiros abatem o felino para proteger seus rebanhos. No Pantanal, o Projeto Onçafari tenta salvar a espécie através do ecoturismo, mostrando que a onça pode ter mais valor se permanecer viva.
Jaguar (Panthera onca)
The jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas. Has an important role in the ecosystem: selects individuals inexperienced, injured, sick or older which ultimately results in the actual benefit to prey population. Unfortunately, the feline slaughter farmers to protect their livestock. In the Pantanal, Project Onçafari attempt to save the species through ecotourism, showing that the jaguar can have more value if staying alive.
