Tatu-bola (Tolypeutes tricinctus)

Quando o tatu-bola se sente ameaçado curva as costas, coloca a cauda ao lado da cabeça e se fecha em uma esfera de proteção. Seria difícil achar melhor mascote para a Copa do Mundo de 2014 do que um bicho que se transforma em bola e só existe no Brasil. A ONG Associação Caatinga, responsável pela campanha da mascote, espera chamar a atenção para o animal – que está ameaçado de extinção – e, a partir daí, conseguir mais apoio para preservar o habitat em que vive. Com isso, outras espécies do Cerrado e da Caatinga seriam beneficiados.
